About Willene
A privilege, not just a profession
I am not here to simply listen and nod. I bring genuine curiosity, lived experience, and a wholehearted investment in your journey. When you share something with me, I carry it with respect and care.
As a dual-qualified professional, I hold two distinct qualifications: as a psychotherapist (counsellor) and as a coach. My approach is integrative, drawing on person-centred therapy, CBT, and coaching to create something that truly fits you. At the heart of everything I do is the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, offering a warm, collaborative space where you feel heard, understood, and never judged.
I work with a wide range of people navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I have a particular interest in and personal connection to neurodivergence. As someone with lived experience of AuDHD, I understand how exhausting it can be to spend a lifetime in a world that wasn’t designed with you in mind, and I bring that understanding into everything I do. With 20 years in corporate IT, I have a deep understanding of high-pressure professional environments and the toll they take on even the most capable people.
I also offer a faith-informed space for those who find meaning in their spirituality, while remaining fully welcoming to people of all beliefs and none.
BACP
Registered Member
The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is the leading professional body for counsellors in the UK and Ireland. Registered membership means I meet rigorous standards of training, practice, and ongoing professional development, and that I work within a clear ethical framework designed to protect you.
ICF PCC
Accredited Coach
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is the world’s largest and most respected coaching organisation. PCC (Professional Certified Coach) is an internationally recognised accreditation awarded only after extensive coach training hours, client hours, and a rigorous assessment process. It means you are working with a coach held to the highest professional and ethical standards.
Neuroaffirming, strengths-based approach
A neuroaffirming approach means I see neurodivergence, including ADHD, autism, and AuDHD, as a valid and valuable way of experiencing the world, not as something to be fixed or managed. A strengths-based perspective means we spend time discovering and building on what you do well, rather than focusing on what feels hard. The goal is not to change who you are. It is to help you understand yourself more fully and build a life that fits you.
Christian faith-informed practice available
My own Christian faith is central to who I am, and I am able to offer a space where your faith can be part of the conversation if that is meaningful to you. This is not imposed on the work and is only brought in at your invitation. I am equally welcoming to people of other faiths, no faith, or those who are still working out what they believe. There is no agenda here beyond your wellbeing.

Why having a coach who is also a counsellor matters
Most people come to me as a coach first, and coaching is genuinely effective. But over time, a pattern became clear. Clients would take two steps forward with coaching, building momentum and clarity, and then unresolved trauma from their past would pull them one step back. However motivated someone was, that forward motion only really held once they were unhooked from whatever was holding them there, and ethically, that kind of work belongs to counselling, not coaching. As a coach, I was not permitted to work with those deeper issues myself. That boundary exists for good reason: counselling requires specific training, supervision, and a different kind of professional accountability. Referring clients to a separate counsellor was the right thing to do, but it came at a cost. Clients had to start over, retell their story to someone new, and build trust all over again from scratch.
The solution was straightforward: I trained as a counsellor so I could offer both, with full integrity and within the correct ethical framework. That work can now happen in the same trusted relationship, with the same person, without losing momentum.
The counsellor side
Counselling creates space to slow down and look beneath the surface. It helps you understand where you have been, what has shaped you, and what might be quietly keeping you stuck.
Processing past experiences and trauma
Understanding patterns rooted in your history
Working through grief, loss, anxiety, and depression
Feeling truly heard, at your own pace
Being gently unhooked from what is holding you back
The coaching side
Coaching is forward-facing. It takes where you are right now and helps you figure out where you want to go, with practical strategies and real support for getting there.
Setting meaningful goals that actually fit your life
Building strategies for focus, energy, and daily functioning
Rebuilding confidence and a clearer sense of direction
Practical tools tailored to how you think and feel
Accountability and encouragement along the way
Both: Therapeutic Coaching
Together, they give you one relationship that can hold both kinds of work, without you having to choose or start over.
Working with one trusted person to address both your past and your future
Never having to retell your story to a new therapist
Moving steadily forward without old patterns quietly pulling you back
Getting more expertise and support, without doubling your time or costGetting more expertise and support, without doubling your time or cost
Working with someone ethically qualified to do both
In practice, a session can move fluidly between both. We might spend time gently unravelling something from your past that has been keeping you stuck, then shift into building the practical skills and confidence to move you forward. You don’t have to choose one or the other, and you never have to start over.
A note on due diligence
It is worth knowing that not all coaches are qualified or ethically permitted to work with counselling issues, even though some do. This is an important distinction. Willene takes her clients’ wellbeing seriously and holds both qualifications to the highest professional standards, precisely so that the right kind of support is always offered within the right ethical framework. If you are ever unsure what kind of support you need, that is something we can explore together in your free discovery call.
